Project Description
The project is promoted by the Thyssen Foundation for a period of two years.
The aim of this project is to uncover the intellectual activity of Elisabeth Princess Palatine, as well as her intellectual development – starting as a pupil of Descartes and becoming a liberal abbess.
The reconstruction and documentation of Elisabeth's intellectual legacy shall be put into practice by a Selected edition of those letters which are both philosophically and intellectually significant, the letters will be commented and translated.
Additionally we want to compile an index including all letters written to and from Elizabeth, dedications and letters referring to Elisabeth.
The aim is to publish a volume, which contains a reappraisal of the various intellectual and philosophical relations and activities of the Elizabeth and an interpretive classification of the letters, including an extensive documentary section.
Furthermore, the results of the research project, in particular the index of the letters will be published in electronic form on the this website.
